Every Studio Ghibli Movie Ranked Worst To Best

10. NausicaƤ Of The Valley Of The Wind (1984)

NausicaƤ of the Valley of the Wind was Studio Ghibli's first film, before Ghibli even existed. Since the studio's inception, the film has been adopted as an official part of the canon, and it makes sense.

Not only did NausicaƤ use many of the key animators and writers who would come to shape the studio for years to come, it also set the blueprint for what future films they had in store.

On paper, it couldn't be more quintessentially Ghibli, following a young woman with the power to bring stability to a post-apocalyptic world. With this story, Miyazaki injects many of his favourite themes - mainly environmentalism - into the action.

Visually, the film is as strong as ever, fast-paced and colourful, and though its story isn't as seamless as future Ghibli productions, it's too charming to fault.
