1. Terminator 2: Judgement Day

Having introduced one of the truly great villains of cinema in the first movie, the first sequel bravely turned everything that made The Terminator so great on its head and bringing in another villain of almost equal impact.

Arnie came back, this time as a heroic Terminator, Linda Hamilton's Sarah Connor returned too - as one of the great badass action heroes - and Robert Patrick was incredible as the new improved robo-killer. And thanks to some stunning, world-changing effects work - which still absolutely holds up now - Cameron dialled up the trickery and creative cons that had driven the original and made something glossy and incredible.

It added another string to Schwarzenegger's bow, Patrick does a lot with little actual material and Edward Furlong is massively overlooked as John, but it's Hamilton who's the best on show here. And the whole think is one of the most rewatchable movies ever made.
