Every Tom Cruise Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

3. Jerry Maguire (1996)

Tom Cruise Interview With The Vampire
TriStar Pictures

As this article has repeatedly pointed out, Cruise has a knack for playing slightly arrogant, even out-right unlikeable characters with heaps of complexity, and that's exactly what makes his performance as the eponymous Jerry Maguire such a welcome addition to his career.

Sure, Jerry Maguire starts Cameron Crowe's charming rom-com as a big shot sports manager who's never had to ask for anything in his life, but once his career flatlines and he teams up with fellow agent Renée Zellweger to reclaim some dignity, he gets a whole new lease on life and finds himself falling in love.

It's a sweet little film with some seriously iconic lines ("Show me the money!"), and thanks to the chemistry of its leads and Cruise's Oscar-nominated performance, it's simply a joy to watch.
