Nostalgia is arguably relevant now more so than ever across Hollywood. It's why legacy sequels are everywhere, it's likely why the X-Men will appear in the next Avengers movie, and it's largely why Spider-Man: No Way Home and Deadpool & Wolverine made so much money.

Even with that being said, who could have possibly seen the MCU revisiting the X-Men animated series from the 90's in 2024, and who could have predicted that it would be so damn good? Even after so many years of the dynamic between Professor X and Magneto on screen, the show still found a fresh and emotional way to portray the same themes that have always been so important to the X-Men.

Of course, the nostalgia helped, particularly the bulk of the original cast returning, but everything about the show was phenomenal, from the animation to the stories, and obviously the characters, with Gambit (AJ LoCascio) feeling like the unlikely MVP.

At the time of writing, season two has got off to an incredibly strong start, bringing Apocalypse (Ross Marquand) into proceedings after Mister Sinister and Bastion (Chris Britton and Theo James) dominated season one's villainous roles, and yes, it's reasonable to already be looking forward to season three. Particularly with the news that there won't be such a wait as there was before season two.
