Every Will Smith Movie Ranked Worst To Best

13. I Am Legend (2007)

King Richard
Warner Bros. Pictures

I Am Legend, based on the influential novel of the same name by Richard Matheson, is far removed from its source material and never figures out how to bring things to an appropriate conclusion, but it's still a devastating dystopian vision that Smith anchors with one of his finest performances.

Spending the movie mostly alone, Smith is forced to portray grief, determination, uncertainty and heroism in equal measure, and does so with a fiery energy he's rarely displayed before or since.

The rest of the film - particularly in its misplaced final act - struggles to rise to Smith's level, but is nevertheless all the more engaging because of him. Be warned, though: This is not a film for dog lovers.
