Every Year In The MCU Ranked Worst To Best

Sequels are always a tricky business, and are usually quite hit and miss. This is no different within the walls of Marvel Studios. Age of Ultron, Iron Man 2, and The Dark World all failed to live up to any expectation set for them by their predecessors, however the same cannot be said about Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The First Avenger is not a bad movie by any stretch. It is a fun, above average MCU outing, however the Russo brothers joined the fray in 2014 and brought one of the strongest movies in the franchise to date. It was a thriller surrounding espionage, betrayal, and deception, and brought Cap together with Nick Fury, Black Widow, and Falcon for a simply exceptional movie.

Later in the year, Marvel somehow managed to release arguably an even better movie in Guardians of the Galaxy. This was the surprise hit of the year, as James Gunn took five obscure characters from the comics, in an obscure team, and made them beloved household names. This opened so many more doors in the MCU, specifically on the cosmic side of the franchise, and was utterly different to any previous movie when it was released.

Even all these years later, there are few movies that can match the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie for pure fun, while it had its painfully emotional moments as well. It really had everything, and rounded off the year that started so well with The Winter Soldier perfectly.
