Evil Dead: 10 Suggestions For The Franchise Moving Forward

9. There Needs To Be A Connection Between Mia And Ash

Campbell Levy Alvarez Panel The Evil Dead remake had an interesting twist on the character of Ash, as it had split him into two components: David, for about three fourths of the film, is the Ash figure that we think is going to survive and carry the rest of the franchise. Hell, the makers of the film even dressed him amazingly close to how Bruce Campbell was dressed in the original film, and they did it on purpose. That purpose looks to have been pure misdirection as David met a heroic end after reviving the hastily crowned final girl (and former demonic antagonist) Mia, leaving her to endure the traditional "lose a hand/gain a chainsaw" twist. Now, keeping in mind the cabin is a family inheritance, and that Mia has practically been crowned Lady Ash, we've got two really good ways to go with the connection: either Mia's relatives have been dabbling in black magic since god knows when or she's a cousin to none other than Ash himself. Whatever the case, it'd be nice to have both heroes on the same page and forming a unified front, instead of having to play catch-up introducing these two characters to each other. At the very least, there should be some sort of introductory activity between Evil Dead 2/Army of Darkness 2, so the final film works better.
