Evil Dead Remake: 15 Talking Points In The New Red Band Trailer

6. Devastating Self-Mutilation

It might be worth mentioning at this point that director Fede Alvarez boasts that no CGI was used to make the Evil Dead; that everything you see in the trailer, will see in the movie represents a live special effect, performed and filmed as it happened on the day. So with that said, the actress above actually looked like that for probably a good portion of the day they shot this scene. I€™ve got a pretty strong stomach. I€™ve seen a s**t tonne of horror over the years, I€™ve seen all manner of horrific filth happen on screen and as a result, I€™ve become desensitised. Still the above shot almost devastates me; I think it€™s the fact that we can see her teeth through her missing cheek. Outrageous! I get the sense that this is the tip of the iceberg; a dollar bill on a fishing line if you will, designed to lure us into the cinema with the promise of more of the same. But that€™s fine; if the carnage presented in the Evil Dead is up to even half of the standard of the above shot, it€™ll be money well spent.
