Exclusive Info On Michael Dougherty's Trick'r Treat Follow Up, Krampus
Adam Scott and David Koechner will star.
While a bonafide sequel to Trick'r Treat is apparently still going to happen at some point, director Michael Dougherty is currently working on Krampus, a Christmas-set riff on the same idea. Today The Wrap reported exclusively, they say, that David Koechner and Adam Scott are joining the project. Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter claimed an exclusive on the casting of Toni Collette and... well, Adam Scott again. I guess that's not total overlap. For my Exclusive, because it seems like everybody reporting on this film has to have one, I can reveal some details of their characters. Adam Scott is playing a workaholic dad who has started to fade out emotionally on his home life. It's only when his daughter is abducted - by the Krampus of the title, I assume - that he pulls himself together and becomes the man his family wants. Koechner is playing a man who loves his family and is literally lucky to have them - he and his girlfriend accidentally conceived when they were teenagers. He's the sort of guy who drives a car with a gun rack on the roof, but he's more vulnerable than that might make him look. When his daughter is taken - again, I think that pesky Krampus is to blame - he actually softens up, his arc being the opposite of Adam Scott's character. Collette's character is a smart, well-educated woman who has always been able to do whatever she sets her mind to, and over the top of this, a very proud, accomplished homemaker. She's the wife of Adam Scott's character, and her reaction to the kid-snatching Krampus is similarly empowering. I... well, I don't know how much that tells us about the film's plot, but it does give us a good sense of some of the key players. And, there you go, big shot trade papers, have a reminder that you're not the only ones who can muster up some exclusive information.
