Fantastic Beasts: 10 Reasons Why The Crimes Of Grindelwald Is A Massive Disappointment

7. It Ignores The Only Story Fans Wanted To See

When it was announced that Jude Law would be playing a young Albus Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts 2, fans of the franchise were ecstatic.

This meant that Rowling was going to go all in on the long-storied history between Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald in a big way, right? Apparently not.

Law's Dumbledore is in the film for a total of five minutes at most, simply showing up to set the table for future sequels that will hopefully make better use of him. As for his relationship with Grindelwald, the film doesn't even want to touch it with a thirty-nine-and-a-half-foot-pole, instead just leaving it to a limp "we were closer than brothers" line to imply the relationship.

Not only is this problematic on a lot of levels; it's ignoring the only story fans actually wanted to see in this film. With all of the time wasted on other subplots it becomes absolutely infuriating how little use it gets out of Jude Law's Dumbledore, who is easily the best thing in the entire film.
