Fantastic Beasts 2: 11 Major Plot Reveals From Comic-Con 2018 Trailer

3. Grindelwald Wants To Live Forever

The very end of the trailer brings with it another moment of fan service, and a big surprise at that: the on-screen debut of acclaimed alchemist Nicolas Flamel.

It's a great scene, with the ghostly figure meeting Jacob, but there needs to be a purpose beyond getting a pop from Potterheads.

There are plenty of similarities to be gleaned between Grindelwald and Voldemort, each respectively the greatest dark wizard of their age, and could a hunt for the Philosopher's Stone be among them?

While he isn't close to death like Voldemort was, the gift of eternal life would no doubt be appealing to someone like Grindelwald, especially if it further aids his cause. Or could the alchemist have some other trick up his sleeve, and that's why Newt (with Jacob in toe) is sent there by Flamel's old friend Albus Dumbledore?
