8. Powering Up Newt

Looking at the story teases from this trailer purely objectively, there is a SLIGHT gap in logic around why Newt Scamander of all people would be chosen as the right person to take down Grindelwald. He is, after all, a bit bumbling, was kicked out of Hogwarts and almost caused a major magical disaster not so long ago.

You can, of course, see why Dumbledore would trust him - he's basically the prototype for his affection for Harry Potter decades later - but while Harry was protected by the love shield, the first film's Newt really doesn't seem up to the job.

But this trailer does a sterling job of addressing that concern directly by giving us the shot of Newt working with his brother Theseus to conjure the earthquake-like magic we see at one point. This isn't just a mere zoologist anymore - Newt is a magical badass now, and he's bamg up to the task of bringing Grindelwald down.

Well, he's not (because we know what happens), but still, it's good to see that he's been powered up to make it seem more believable.
