Fantastic Beasts: 28 Easter Eggs & References You Must See

The end of the film confirms what was suspected in the last few days before release: that Johnny Depp appears as Gellert Grindelwald. It's a divisive casting, but it's one I can absolutely get behind.

Interesting, there are a couple of links between Depp and other Wizarding world actors. First, he's playing Grindelwald, who was previously played by Jamie Campbell Bower in The Deathly Hallows Part 1. They appeared together in Sweeney Todd.

And perhaps more intriguingly, this is the second time in which Depp and Farrell have played two versions of the same character. The same happened in The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus when both actors stepped in to fill in for Heath Ledger after his death.
