Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them: 10 Ways It Sets Up The Sequels

1. And The Fantastic Beasts May Not Really Be A Big Part Of Things (Except For Dragons)

Much like the titles of Harry Potter, every film in this franchise will be called 'Fantastic Beasts... [and the something]'.

It's an understandable choice, because a franchise needs brand recognition, but it's going to be misleading moving forwards. A number of beasts get their moment to shine here, and some really are fantastic (the Bowtruckle and Niffler in particular). But as the story grows, will there be much room for them?

Probably not. While there could be some use for magical creatures as the war progresses, generally the focus will shift away from the beings that give the series its name, which is a slightly odd position to be in.

That said, there is the most fantastic beast of all to come into the fray: dragons. There's a mention of them here, when discussing Newt's time in the war, and he goes on to work for the Dragon Research and Restraint Bureau. I'd be shocked if we didn't get some awesome dragon action at some stage of the franchise. If Game of Thrones can do it on a TV budget, Fantastic Beasts surely can.
