Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them: 10 Ways It Sets Up The Sequels

8. Kowalski Re-enters The Wizarding World

Fantastic Beasts 5

Oh, Kowalski. As a Muggle (sorry, No-Maj) Jacob Kowalski holds a unique position within the wizarding world. While we've met Muggles before, he's the first to truly go on a journey with witches and wizards, and embrace the world of magic.

A key part of the film's heart and charm (and its best character, though the Niffler gives him a run for his money (well he does love shiny objects)), it seems like a bittersweet end when he's obliviated.

But not entirely, somehow. It seems that he's been able to retain vague memories of his adventures in the Wizarding World, as the fantastic beasts he encounters become delicious creations in his bakery (they just come to him, apparently). His memory not totally being gone is reinforced when Queenie enters the shop, and there's a smile of vague recognition on his face.

There wouldn't be much point having Queenie and him meet again if they weren't to have further adventures together. There is the potential for his memory to be restored, since it appears they aren't fully gone anyway (the known reversals of memory charms typically include torture, which would be a weird route to go down here), or just creating new ones, with Queenie filling in some gaps.
