Nicolas Flamel (Brontis Jodorowsky) will be well-known to hardcore Potter readers, though to the uninitiated, his presence in The Crimes of Grindelwald seems a bit, well, random.

You see, Flamel is based on a real-life French scribe and manuscript-seller of the same name, who legend suggests was a secret alchemist who discovered the philosopher's stone and the secret of immortality.

This has been incorporated into Potter lore as fact, and his appearance in this movie as a decrepit old man marks his first screen appearance in any Wizarding World film.

He doesn't do much beyond give Jacob a quick fright, help deduce the locations of Credence and Queenie and then show up in the movie's final battle, but his glorified cameo lands on just the right side of demented.
