Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald - 17 WTF Moments

10. Credence's Servant Gets Fridged

Fantastic Beasts The Crimes Of Grindelwald Credence Nagini
Warner Bros.

Credence and Nagini's investigation into his past leads him to the home of Irma Dugard (Danielle Hugues), who he believes to be his mother. However, it turns out that she's merely the servant who helped deliver him.

Their heartfelt reunion is quickly usurped by the arrival of Auror Grimmson (Ingvar Eggert Sigurosson), who quickly kills Irma and initiates a brief battle with Credence, pretty much wrecking the house in the process.

So, Irma was literally introduced to quickly dump some exposition and make the audience mildly more sympathetic towards Credence, and as soon as her duty was completed, she was killed with no import whatsoever.

We're still fridging female characters for cheap narrative shortcuts in 2018, apparently.
