Fantastic Four: 17 Easter Eggs, In-Jokes And References You Need To See

12. Mole Man

It was reported heavily during Fantastic Four's production that Tim Blake Nelson's character was a pre-transformation version of Mole Man, setting up the villain for an appearance in a sequel. While his Dr. Harvey Allen has a different surname to the subterranean menace (in the comics Mole Man's alter ego is Harvey Elder), there are still hints of that potential future in the film - Harvey's death at the hands of Doom is much more protracted than other killings, seeing his face distorted into something more horrifying and Mole-Man-like. Of course, with a sequel to this film unlikely, it looks like this will be another foreshadowed supervillain the actor will never get to play (he was also set up as The Leader in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, but has yet to return to the MCU).
