Fantastic Four Reboot Cast Revealed
Miles Teller (Reed Richards), Kate Mara (Sue Storm), Jamie Bell (The Thing) and Michael B. Jordan (The Human Torch) cast. Yes you read that right... Jamie Bell is The Thing!
Hot on the tail of the trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy, it appears we have our second massive comic book film story of the week. Coming Soon have revealed the four members of the main cast for the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot film although we stress that this hasn't been confirmed by Fox Studios yet. The four actors who are said to be in the film are Miles Teller (Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic), Kate Mara (Susan Storm/Invisible Woman), Jamie Bell (Ben Grimm/The Thing) and Michael B. Jordan (Johnny Storm/The Human Torch). Each of those actors should be mostly familiar to fans. Bell of course made a break out appearance in Billy Elliott before going on to appear in films like King Kong, Jumper and most recently Nymphomaniac. Michael B. Jordan is just one of those actors that you've seen in something and has a DC Comics link after voicing Cyborg in Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. Miles Teller is probably the least known of the four, but appeared earlier this year alongside Jordan in That Awkward Moment. Kate Mara on the other hand is a very up and coming star, in fact she was on David Letterman just recently to promote the second season of House of Cards and if her name sounds oddly familiar it's because she's the sister of Rooney Mara. This is the third live-action film incarnation of the characters, and the second time that a production has been pushed forward in order for a studio to retain the rights. Although at least this time around they appear to be doing it with a decent budget (unlike back in 1994)! It certain appears to be a younger and fresher take on the Four, something very much in-line with the re-booted Spider-man film. So what can we tell from this younger version of the cast? Well it would make sense to base the characters on the Ultimate Universe version of the comics, much in the same way that the new Spider-Man is a great deal more Ultimate-centric. This means that their origins would not be from going into space, but instead by travelling into the The Negative Zone. We're sure that this is the first of several announcements in the upcoming weeks regarding The Fantastic Four. The film is scheduled for release on June 19, 2015 and if nothing is released then the rights will revert back to Marvel. Fox is backed up against a wall and they can't delay. Will we see Doctor Doom, or are they going to go with a different villain in the first film to set it apart from the previous incarnation? Is there going to be some Spider-Man/Fantastic Four crossover action or will Spider-Man 2 feature a Fantastic Four post-credits sequence? How will they explain that Michael B. Jordan and Kate Mara are meant to be brother and sister? All this and more is yet to be revealed. Thoughts? Opinions? Let's hear them below!
