Fast & Furious 8: 10 Huge Rumours You Need To Know

9. An Expanded Role For Mia (Is Brian Doomed?)

Fast And Furious 8

It was no accident that Jordana Brewster's role as Mia Toretto was dramatically reduced in the last two Fast And Furious movies: her obligations on Dallas reduced the time on her schedule. But now she wants more of the action she got to taste in Fast Five, and with Dallas cancelled, that shouldn't be a problem.

But the question here is what that means for Paul Walker's character. The end of Fast And Furious 7 saw Brian and Mia basically walk off into the sunset for familial safety and retirement. It was felt to be the right thing to do for Walker's memory, which is why Universal widely swerved the possibility of killing him off.

So, how does that story cul-de-sac fit with Brewster's desire for an expanded role exactly? Their happy ending would have to be severely compromised for her to get back in the game. Could there really be a possibility of Brian being killed off off-screen?

Or will they merely have him split up with Mia and disappear quietly? It's hard to know what will be more disrespectful.
