Fast & Furious 8: 23 WTF Moments In The Fate Of The Furious

5. The Inconsistent EMP

There's a problem with EMP weapons in films that almost every film to ever use them has committed: the fact that EMPs are actually really consistent in what they fry. The answer is everything: whether it's turned on or off, if it's electrical and am EMP goes off around it or inside it, it's going to be broken.

This revelation makes the fact that Dom uses the EMP weapon in his suped up car - with presumably lots of important electrical elements helping it move - and then continues to drive it into the Russian base, pretty confusing. And that a helicopter takes off almost immediately after the EMP goes off for the first time. Or the fact that the control room in the Russian base is still fully functional when Letty and Ramsey break into it.

Or the fact that Dom's phone isn't fried, so he knows when he's able to kill Rhodes after his son has been rescued... You know, all little key plot points that wouldn't be possible if the EMP had worked as it was supposed to. How bloody CONVENIENT.

And then, to crown it, the helicopter that managed to miss the first EMP blast is taken out by the second one. What universe is this?
