2. The Torturous Pacing

Though Fast X is a whole two minutes shorter than F9, at 141 minutes in length it's still a damn beefy sit, and absolutely not one that in any way justifies that expanded runtime.

Much like F9, Fast X buys a little too eagerly into its own sappy melodrama, grinding things to a halt on numerous occasions for characters to have gooey heart-to-hearts.

Not a single person who watches these films comes for the saccharine soap opera - it's about fast cars doing insane, gravity-defying things, while the cheeseball drama merely provides a cooldown between set-pieces.

But between this and the movie's overall desperate desire to cram every possible character into the story, it ends up feeling like an overstuffed slog of a movie. This feels especially egregious given that, without spoiling anything, Fast X doesn't even really feel like a complete movie. Speaking of which...
