Fifty Shades Darker Review: 2 Ups & 8 Downs

2. Dakota Johnson & Jamie Dornan Have No Chemistry

The first film released amid rumours that leads Johnson and Dornan didn't get along, and scenes were reportedly re-shot in order to enhance their perceived chemistry.

Their chemistry wasn't really that bad in the first film, but here it feels off for the most part, perhaps a product of both actors feeling the derisive backlash from the first time and not really having their hearts in it beyond a contract and a paycheck.

This surely contributes to the "sexy" situations not feeling that stimulating, and it probably doesn't help that the pair are given so little to work with writing-wise or sex-wise. It's either hilariously bad or soporifically tame.
