Fifty Shades Of Grey Review: 14 Hilariously Awful Moments
10. "Laters, Baby"
Possibly the most infamous line of dialogue from the novel is "Laters, baby", which Christian frequently says to Ana when he leaves, and though it sounds bad enough to make most people cringe into a fist, the fanbase has a perverse fondness for it, which meant that E.L. James insisted it be kept in the final movie. One can only imagine how much they were paying Dornan to read through execrable dialogue like this, but it certainly makes the movie more entertaining. Christian says it twice to Ana when leaving a room, and each time it evokes a combination of wincing and uproarious laughter from audiences. It's absolutely impossible to take seriously and, smartly, is therefore placed in some of the movie's less-important scenes. Still, by any normal writing standard, considering that no human in recorded existence has ever spoken this way in real life, it's nothing short of terrible.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
