Fincher doesn't let us down with Zodiac DVD

zodiacdirectorscut.jpgI was rather shocked last month when I heard that the DVD release of Zodiac would be a 1-disc affair consisting of no extra's or special features of any kind. I mean this was a David Fincher flick and after the loaded releases of his previous movies Se7en, Fight Club (which was one of the most important DVD releases ever) and Panic Room which we had great input in them all, the thought of him releasing such a lightweight DVD was quite shocking. Zodiac is an epic 3 hour long movie and a flick that surely the director would be proud of. It's the kind of story that demands an audio commentary and tons of extra features to tell us how it all went down. Well the good news from Slash Film is that Fincher won't let us down over the DVD release of the film after all. A jam packed 2-Disc "director's cut" edition will be released early next year with an audio commentary (from actors, writers, director and even James Ellroy), extensive behind-the-scenes stuff, in depth look at the crimes which includes interviews with the original figures involved in the investigation. Sounds good and this is exactly the kind of release this film demands. However can you really imagine a longer version of Zodiac... Jesus! source - film ick, davis dvd
