First Lego Batman Movie Images Released

Holy animated goodness!

In case you weren't getting a big enough Batman fix this week, the first images from the upcoming Lego Batman Movie have been released. To be blunt, it looks awesome. In the same week that audiences will see Batman take on Superman in Dawn of Justice, they're also being treated to the first images of the Caped Crusader in little Danish block form. The images appear to show Batman looking much more buoyant as a Lego man, which suggests that the film will take the same tone with the character as it did with The Lego Movie. Will Arnett, reprising the role, will be joined by Ralph Fiennes as the voice of Alfred Pennyworth, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl/Barbara Gordon, Michael Cera as Robin/Dick Grayson and Zack Galifianakis as The Joker.

Returning Batman to the more traditional surroundings of Gotham City, the story is reported to focus around the caped crusaders bourgeoning friendships with both Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon. Or Robin and Batgirl, as they're more commonly known. Talking about the film in USA Today, director Chris McKay commentated that: "we're making About A Boy as directed by Michael Mann," which is sure to raise expectation levels from fans. Although wether this (or indeed any) film could actually compete with About A Boy as directed by Michael Mann is another question entirely. The film is due to be released February 10, 2017, but a full cinematic trailer is scheduled for release later this week.
