First look at FRIDAY THE 13th!
No sign of Jason just yet.
The inevitable reboot of the Friday the 13th franchise began shooting this week and despite the bullshit propaganda from the official Platinum Dunes website, there was no way in hell this series was restarted for any other reason than the potential financial profits. Anyway, here's our first look at filming followed by a blurb from editor Brad Fuller and a little info on the status of the Nightmare on Elm Street restart.
And tonight, my fourth on set, but the first that brought me face to face with Mr. Voorhees in all his glory - I can tell you without hesitation that every minute of frustration, pain and misery was worth it - really worth it, because tonight Jason Vorhees scared the shit out of me. No, he didn't threaten me with that huge machete; all he did was look into the camera and every hair on my body stood up. Derek Mears captures the best of the all the Jason's and injects the character with his own element of tangible menace. Now remaking Friday the 13th is one thing but rebooting A Nightmare on Elm Street is another entirely but since they remade Halloween - it's hard to get angry over Hollywood anymore. I mean look how many sequels, reboots, remakes have been greenlit this week alone, it's getting more and more depressing isn't it? This week Bloody Disgusting got word that the studio are desperate for Mark Swift and Damian Shannon (the writers of Freddy vs. Jason) to work on the new Freddy Krueger film. I would say it's almost inevitable... sadly. Not so much that it's those guys, just the fact that it has to happen.
