Screen Daily has posted what appears to be the first official image of
Brad Pitt in
Cogan's Trade, the heist caper from
Andrew Dominik based on
George V. Higgins' novel of the same name that has now wrapped. In the movie Pitt plays Jackie Cogan, "a professional enforcer who investigates a heist that went down during a mob-protected poker game" believed to have been perpetrated by two junkies played by
Scoot McNairy and
Ben Mendelsohn. Full image after the jump...

Described as a more serious 'Ocean's Eleven' and featuring a more sinisterly dark and humorous tone than
The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford, Dominik's movie co-stars
Ray Liotta (the hustler Mark Markie Trattman in charge of the game),
Richard Jenkins (a lawyer in the know),
James Gandolfini (a washed up hitman),
Vincent Curatola (as an ex-convict seeking revenge) with additional roles for
Sam Shepherd and
Bella Heathcote. Sadly since I last wrote about the movie,
Sam Rockwell seems to have dropped out. The Weinsteins will release the movie in early 2012. Story via
