First Look: Ethan Hawke in Supernatural Thriller SINISTER

Directed by Scott Derrickson, the haunted house thriller opens August 24th.

Summit Entertainment have released the first two images from Sinister, their August 24th released thriller starring Ethan Hawke. Directed by Scott Derrickson (The Day The Earth Stood Still remake, The Exorcism of Emily Rose) from an original screenplay he co-wrote, the film follows a true crime novelist (Hawke) on the trail of his next big story. When he moves his family to a house where the entire previous occupants were brutally murdered, he stumbles across a bunch of home videos that show the massacring of other families in the house. Obviously his own family is then in danger and his investigation into the truth is said to uncover some supernatural goings on. Vincent D'Onofrio, James Ransone, Fred Dalton Thompson, Nicholas King, Clare Foley, Victoria Leigh, Juliet Rylance and Michael Hall D'Addario support. Pretty sure we've seen this kind of movie at least seven thousand times in the past but what the hell, we'd rather Derrickson worked on an ordinary genre film than remaking something so perfect like The Day The Earth Stood Still.
