First look: NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 2

Ben Stiller gets a promotion...

You can probably all easily recall my feelings on the first Night at the Museum, I was majorly critical of how a really neat concept was butchered by the wrong talent and little effort from director Shawn Levy to make anything of redeeming value. Home Alone had a equally dopey concept but was smartly handled, the characters well defined and a movie you could get close too and enjoy. Night at the Museum felt really cold to me which always aimed for the lowest common denominator and had some of the worst looking CGI in a family film for some time. Will Night at the Museum be looked upon as fondly in the future as Home Alone is now to my generation? Don't think so. Night at the Museum was like the first time I saw Jumanji. I expected a WHOLE lot more from a cool concept. Here's our first look at the sequel (subtitled Escape from the Smithsonian) which sees Ben Stiller star once again (who looks to have gotten a promotion from his night time security gig, and is now in a suit) as the victim of artifacts coming to life when the Museum of Natural History is closed down for upgrading and the exhibits are put into storage at the Federal Archives in D.C.

Returning are Owen Wilson, Dick Van Dyke, Steve Coogan and Ricky Gervais... with newcomers Amy Adams (as Amelia Earhart) and Hank Azaria (as a villainous Pharoah) now on board. Sadly Robin Williams is not expected to be back as Teddy Roosevelt, one of the shining stars of the first movie. Couple of more pics HERE but they are basically just variations of the image above. Just like the National Treasure sequel - I can't imagine this being much different from the first movie, so if you hated the first there really is nothing to see here when it opens next May. source - coming soon
