Updated: THOR Trailer & Poster Now Online...

Updated: Now as promised here is the official Thor trailer from Yahoo and as reported it is almost identical if a little shorter than the previous leaked Comic-con footage. Sure there's new shots of Thor flying and a new look at The Destroyer but nothing really worth getting excited over. We still think this has disaster written all over it but we dearly hope we are wrong; When I first heard Marvel Studios where pushing ahead with a Thor movie I cant say I was too excited. The character was not a favourite, although I have grown quite fond of the campy team up with the Hulk in TV movie The Incredible Hulk Returns. However, when news broke that the services of Kenneth Branagh as director had been secured, my interest peaked. Although not everyone at OWF agrees with me that it's a good thing, I thought his appointment would bring with it something similar in tone to one of his Shakespearean adaptations, something fantastical and wildy different to our standard comic book movie fare. Perhaps this was too much to hope for, as when the Comic-Con footage leaked online earlier in the year, it underwhelmed to say the least with it's seemingly small tv scale action and same old 'You're not from around here are you' vibe. Hopefully with the first official teaser to be released later today will include more epicness, though reports are that it is largely re-used footage from the previously leaked version.

Thanks to Marvel.com we have a poster to cast our eyes over but it's a bit of a yawn...

Check it out and tell us you think.

Sure it shows our hero with his big ass hammer in hand, but it's just a little plain for such a character I feel. I know it's only a teaser, so couldn't they have done something with just the hammer, an iconic image on its own? With a talented cast that includes Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman all directed by Branagh it would be a huge shame for this one to be the misstep for Marvel Studios that all the signs are pointing towards. I have a gut feeling to expect the worst come May 2011.

Neil Upton hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
