First Trailer For Oscar 2017 Favourite The Light Between Oceans

Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander are here to adopt a baby and make you get sad and stuff.

Entertainment One have launched the trailer for their new weepie The Light Between Oceans today, and it's got 'Oscar bait' written all over it. Based on the acclaimed novel, the story concerns a lighthouse keeper (Fassbender) and his wife (Vikander) who discover a baby in a lifeboat washed ashore. Deciding to raise the baby, they discover the baby's mother (Rachel Weisz) is alive and well and living on the same island as them. Moral dilemmas ensue. Considering the fact that Fassbender and Vikander started dating after meeting on the film, you can expect the screen coupling to have pretty great chemistry, worth keeping an eye out for. Check out the highly emotional trailer below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lk7yw00a4fs&feature=youtu.be The fact that the film is set in the years following World War I just pours on more for the Oscar gravy boat - the Academy loves a good period piece, after all. Vikander has stormed onto the scene of late, seemingly the new Jessica Chastain, where all of a sudden she's everywhere. In the last two years she's starred in Testament Of Youth, Ex Machina, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and The Danish Girl, all to great critical reception. If she doesn't nab an Oscar for The Danish Girl, you can expect her to be in with a chance for this next year. The Light Between Oceans is due out on 2nd September.
