Flashpoint: 9 Things It Means For The DC Extended Universe
3. A Universe-Wide Shake-Up
To say Flashpoint altered the DC Universe is the understatement of the year.
It changed the publisher's comic book line forever, ushering in a new age dubbed 'The New 52' and could have a similar impact on Warner Bros' movie status quo.
The events of Flashpoint ended with a seismic shift that merged the core DC Universe with the worlds of Vertigo and WildStorm, and the results were remoulded versions of the firm's most popular heroes and villains.
Reports suggest that Flashpoint could give Ben Affleck the opportunity to leave the role of Batman behind, with a new version of the Caped Crusader introduced under the alternated status quo.
Although Affleck pledged his immediate commitment to Batman at Comic-Con, he will have enjoyed a good run in the cape and cowl by 2020 and wish to use the Flash-centric crossover as a jumping-off point.
Whether Warner will use Flashpoint quite as drastically as its comic book counterpart remains to be seen, but it's difficult to imagine the studio overhauling Wonder Woman so soon, given that she's proved a revelation on screen.
