FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS co-creator offered MUPPET movie?

The Vulture report that Forgetting Sarah Marshalldirector Nicholas Stoller has left the reigns of the new Muppet movie he co-wrote with actor Jason Segel. Disney has offered James Bobin the chance to replace him. Bobin is the co-creator of the recently canceled off-beat HBO show Flight of the Conchords, and worked for years previously as producer/director with Sacha Baron Cohen on the Ali G Show here in the U.K. An official agreement for Bobin to direct hasn't yet been reached as the helmer has also been offered a Judd Apatow movie titled Bridesmaids, written by Apatow regular actress and sometime Saturday Night Live writer Kristen Wiig. The rom-com revolves around two women battling to plan their friend€™s wedding party, and would find Wiig as one of the leads. Production is set to begin as early as this summer on the Muppet movie, so a decision from Bobinwill need to be made soon. The Conchords helmer is a fine choice for either project we say... though we do slightly mourn Stoller/Segel working together on a Muppet movie, as they both seemed like life-long fans who had a particular vision for Jim Henson's characters that they wanted to share with us.
