Focus Features Buy Wes Anderson's MOONRISE KINDGOM With Impressive A-List Cast

I'm no fan of Wes Anderson but as filming has just begun in Rhode Island on Moonrise Kingdom, his next feature film and a usually impressive cast has been sought, I feel like I must report. Set in the 1960's on an off-coast New England island, the movie once again teams Anderson with Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman - and this time they are joined by Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Frances McDormand and Tilda Swinton. Co-written by Anderson with his The Darjeeling Limited writer Roman Coppola, the movie is Anderson's first period piece and...
.... follows a young boy and girl falling in love. When they are moved to run away together, various factions of the town mobilize to search for them and the town is turned upside down €“ which might not be such a bad thing.
Bruce Willis is the town Sheriff. (I imagine he will look even more disinterested and dead-eyed in a Wes Anderson feature) Edward Norton the camp leader. (Cool.. he doesn't do enough comedy) Bill Murray & Frances McDormand are the parents of the young girl played by Kara Hayward. The young boy is played by Jared Gilman. Tilda Swinton and Jason Schwartzman's roles are undetermined. Focus Features have now picked up the worldwide distribution rights (though they are likely to sell the international rights to someone else in Cannes) for a release next year with Moonrise Kingdom produced and co-financed by Indian Paintbrush. Scott Rudin once again produces. Moonrise Kingdom is aiming for a release next year.
