Fox lurks over THE SHADOW!

I guess in the advent of a supernatural Guy Ritchie version of Sherlock Holmes and with properties like Doc Savage (with Shane Black directing!) and Buck Rogers in the works for a revival - Hollywood has finally forgiven Van Helsing, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and is ready to take a chance on pulp heroes once again. Latino Review report that 20th Century Fox have bought the rights to pulp franchise The Shadow after it was put in turnaround by Sony who themselves had been in-development on an adaptation since 2006. The good news is that Fox are keeping Sam Raimi on as producer, a guy who has been trying to crack his lifelong passion for the character for two decades. His Darkman from the early 90's is a love letter to the character when he couldn't secure the rights to Walter B. Gibson's 1930's creation. Furthermore, it seems Raimi has extended the hand to David Slade, the man he chose to direct 30 Days of Night at his Ghost House Pictures to helm this new incarnation. A good choice, Slade has a great eye for the visual medium (he also made Hard Candy) and will avoid all the mistakes the ego-manic Frank Miller made with The Spirit.
