Fox making live action movie of The Sims

ea-the-sims-pc.jpgDid anyone else know that The Sims is the biggest selling PC game of all time? I was a little surprised by that I didn't realise it was that popular. In any event the news from Variety is that 20th Century Fox have acquired the film rights to the video game which has sold 85 million copies worldwide. They plan to adapt the game into a live-action feature film. Rod Humble, the head of SIMS Studio said this...
"'The SIMS has done an interactive version of an old story, which is what it's like to have infinite power and how do you deal with it...Given that that's an old story, you can imagine how easily that would translate to traditional story telling."
I don't get it. How can they make a movie from The Sims? Now I've only played the game once and was bored with it instantly so I'm a bit sketchy on what it was like. Isn't it just where you have complete control over a person, and can decide what they do with their daily lives and how their house is furnitured? I'm sure their is smarter people than me out there. Can someone explain to me how translating this into a movie is going to work?
