The audience wants Freddy dead. Yes. There are of course comedic elements from Fredward, with a one liner here and there. I cannot stress how good the performance of Robert Englund is here. This is often overlooked as the series descends. In the scene for example the visual of the syringe gloved Freddy should be funny, however it is the exact opposite. Freddy is still suppose to be, and is, a figure of dread by this sequel. Personally I find Taryn's death to be genuinely disturbing, perhaps the most disturbing element of this entire film. It is the perfect method of death designed by a true psycho-path.
