Frozen 2: 9 Ways The Sequel Improved On The Original
8. Olaf
While Olaf was never quite as annoying as some other animated film mascots you could name (see: The Minions), he still got on a few nerves, especially when Frozen was probably repeated millions of times across multiple childhoods, enough for parents to be sick of him.
In Frozen 2, however, he becomes genuinely funny, the years since his first incarnation changing him from a silly, goofy, fun-loving, and somewhat dim-witted living snowman, to a learned, if misguided snowman suffering from existential dread and a semi-nihilistic view of the world - and it is utterly hilarious. His song about understanding every terrible thing happening in his life when he's older is tinged with knowing adult irony, and got a lot of chuckles and outright laughter in the theatres. That isn't even mentioning his rapidfire recap of the events of the first Frozen film, which had the entire audience in stitches.
Apart from his comedic improvement, however, Olaf becoming just a little more serious; rightfully so, with their difficult circumstances - is handled well, and it's likely nobody expected Olaf, of all characters, to make them cry - but there were definitely a few sniffles involved in his climactic scene.
