Frozen 2: 9 Ways The Sequel Improved On The Original
3. The Ambition And Scale
Everything about Frozen 2 set out to outdo its predecessor, from the bigger story and world to the outstanding animation and colour palette. The themes have matured with the audience and the film does more with its word, taking the more contained and isolated tale of the first and scaling it up.
One of the main complaints about the film is how there's "too much going on", but with that comes the knowledge that the film would have been improved had it been at least thirty minutes longer. The content of Frozen 2 was intriguing and full of potential, and might have flourished if only it had been paced a bit better. The world is bigger, the cultures and characters more complex, and there's finally more story material to justify a followup (at least more than the first film left viewers with).
This sequel went bigger with its themes as well, and while the original Frozen was fairly clever already, Frozen 2 clearly had a lot to say, this particular Disney cash cow not immune to the mature lessons seen increasingly featured in cartoons largely aimed at children.
