Frozen: 8 Reasons Why Prince Hans Is Actually Disney's Lamest Ever Villain

5. His Evil Scheme Is Lame

There is a reason why villains are always murdering royalty or taking over worlds rather than something far less grand. Put simply; if a villain's scheme isn't wicked enough then they might as well give it up and take a different path entirely, because audiences demand conflict in their films, and that means having villains with plans that can inject a healthy dose of fear into our heroes. The creators of the great Disney villains all realised this, and were sure to come up with plots that left their names emblazoned in the annals of evil history. Way back in 1937 the Evil Queen from Snow White couldn't handle being number two, and sent out the huntsman to carve out precious little Snow White's heart, and then Cruella De Ville plotted to murder puppies for a fur coat, Jafar lusted for fame, power and riches, and Scar bumped off both his brother and nephew in his quest for the throne. Great villains don't do things by half. In Frozen, Prince Hans wants to take over Arendelle. It's an evil scheme, sure; but it's all done in a very offhand, glib manner, as if he just decided to seize the throne because he wanted his brothers to stop picking on him. There is a good chance that he probably wouldn't even be that bad as Arendelle's ruler - especially given that the current ruler is pretty much absent. Compare all this to Scar in The Lion King, whose insatiable thirst for power drove him to madness, and turned the Pride Lands in into a desolate, ravaged carcass of a kingdom.
