Game Night Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

3. Cliff Martinez's Delirious Musical Score

In addition to the surprisingly strong visuals, the movie touts an unexpectedly terrific musical score from legendary electronic composer Cliff Martinez (Drive, Contagion).

Considering this is the sort of movie which would conventionally be accompanied by a generic, template-driven score - because how often do studio comedies have memorable music? - the bold choice to hire someone like Martinez sticks out in a great way.

Martinez's score is especially effective during the action sequences: the opening set-piece where Brooks is "taken", leading to genuinely brutal fight scene, is all the more intense thanks to the composer's pulsing synth work.

And best of all, if you want to listen to the score yourself, it's already streaming on Spotify.
