Ghost In The Shell Review: 8 Ups & 4 Downs

A surprisingly stunning adaptation.

There's been an enormous amount of controversy and fan anxiety surrounding the big-budget, live-action adaptation of Ghost in the Shell, and now it's finally here for fans to judge for themselves.

Critics have been surprisingly positive so far, but with good reason: strip away fanboy nitpicking and that (admittedly discussion-worthy) racial issue, and you're left with a slick, well-executed sci-fi actioner that's among the better attempts to translate anime to the live-action realm.

Fans are likely to be more divided on its merits than critics, but go in with an open mind and you might be pleasantly surprised by how well it captures the essence of the source material.

Power Rangers and Ghost in the Shell both surpassing expectations in the same week... Who would've ever thought it?
