Ghostbusters 3 All-Female Cast Revealed

Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon are your new busters.

https://twitter.com/paulfeig/status/560178147954421760 Ghostbusters 3 has been in the works for years now, but the movie quickly fell apart following the death of original cast member Harold Ramis. Though Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson were up for a return, Bill Murray proved elusive, and director Ivan Reitman ultimately decided to scrap plans to turn his beloved film series into a trilogy. Sony weren't about to let it die however, and a reboot was put in the works with an all-female cast and Bridesmaids director Paul Feig at the helm. This was met with a mixed response from fans, but it's happening regardless, and now the four actresses who will make up the main team of Ghostbusters have finally been revealed. Those are Melissa McCarthy (Mike & Molly), Kristen Wiig (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty), and Saturday Night Live players Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. The latter two likely won't be familiar to those outside of the US, but both have received a great deal of critical acclaim for their work on the long-running SNL. Paul Feig made the news official with the Tweet below following a story on The Hollywood Reporter. He also revealed later in the evening that the Ghostbusters reboot will be released on July 22nd, 2016. The rest of the cast should start coming together soon, and it probably won't be too long until we start seeing some official images as production begins in the spring.
