Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire Review - 4 Ups & 6 Downs

2. Walter Peck's Cameo

Hypocritical though it might seem to complain about nostalgia-baiting and then praise the returning presence of a long-absent character, it sure was fun to see feckless bureaucrat Walter Peck (William Atherton) back in the Ghostbusters universe.

Peck was of course the Ghostbusters' human foil in the original movie - an over-eager Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) inspector who attempted to stymie the Ghostbusters at every turn, culminating in the all-timer Peter Venkman one-liner, "This man has no dick."

In Frozen Empire, Peck returns for a few brief scenes as the now-Mayor of New York City, who once again objects to basically everything the Ghostbusters are up to.

It's simply fun to see character actor William Atherton back in this role, having not missed a single step, even if Peck's concerns about the Ghostbusters' destructive behaviour - and their willingness to give proton packs to children - actually come across as mostly reasonable this time.
