Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire Review - 4 Ups & 6 Downs

5. The Villain SUCKS

While in theory it's commendable that Frozen Empire doesn't simply rehash legacy Ghostbusters villains as Afterlife did, you might ultimately wish it had considering how little impact this movie's antagonist makes.

The primary baddie is an ancient evil named Garraka who intends to cause havoc on Earth after being defeated by humans in the past.

It's all generic, copy-paste nonsense we've heard numerous times before, and ensures Garraka is by far the series' least interesting villain to date.

It doesn't help at all that Garraka is barely in the movie until deep into the third act, and even then their design is so lousily ordinary that you're likely to forget about them shortly after the end credits roll.

Never before has an antagonist in the franchise felt more tacked-on than this - there's just nothing interesting going on here.
