Ghostbusters: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best
8. Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones)
Leslie Jones' Patty was easily the most divisive and controversial character ahead of the movie's release, and with good reason, considering that the trailers basically milked her most annoying scenes to the point of irritation.
Patty can be loud and brash, but in the final movie she's nowhere near as grating a "black stereotype" and is actually a pretty entertaining part of the core line-up, even if she's definitely the least of the main group.
Patty is the "everywoman", the down-to-Earth one who doesn't have ridiculous qualifications or scientific knowledge, and so in a way she represents the audience. She's also the brawn of the group, as shown when she fights off a possessed Abby, and brings plenty of attitude to the table.
In short, her part is just fine, and not nearly as offensive or annoying as many expected.
