Ghostbusters Trailer Breakdown: 25 Things You Need To See

9. Time Travel In Times Square?!

Because you can't have a movie set in New York City that doesn't involve New York City landmarks, ghosts will choose to focus their attack on Times Square. What's interesting here is we're getting what appears to be some form of time travel; the billboards, which are originally promoting Papa Johns and Twinkies (whose ad includes a "big" callback), mysteriously change to period trappings - adverts for classic films (Isle Of The Snake People and Taxi Driver) and neon-signed restaurants. This is a pretty major hidden detail, although whether it'll wind up being a key plot element or just a cool effect isn't clear.
And, after that bombshell, here's something less surprising - 3D... Yup, there's going to be some ghostly stereoscopic effects here, evidenced by one of the spectral apparations swooping towards the camera. Urgh.
