Possibly the worst kept secret in Hollywood is now out in the wild: M. Night Shyamalan is making a sequel to beloved superhero movie Unbreakable, which will also tie the movie to Split.

The twist-loving director confirmed as much on Twitter, revealing that the sequel will be known as Glass - after the villain in Unbreakable - and that Bruce Willis, Samuel L Jackson, James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy will be returning, after Willis' David Dunn appeared in the post-credits stinger on the end of Split.

Given the title, it would be interesting to see Jackson's Mr Glass return as a sort of Hannibal Lecter figure, "helping" Dunn's working class superhero find and take down the Beast.

Split was a return to form for Shyamalan, who made some poor choices after Unbreakable announced him as a hugely gifted story-teller, and it's good to feel like he's back.

He also stated on Twitter that he's finished the script and that it's a relief to be able to confirm the film's existence:

“It’s taken 17 years but I can finally answer the #1 question I get, 'Are you making a f#&@ing sequel to Unbreakable or what?' My new film is the sequel to #Unbreakable AND #Split."

The film - which the director calls a comic book thriller - is set for release on 18th January 2019.
