Good News/Really Worrying Bad News for G.I. JOE!

First we will start with the good news because if we start with the bad, it might put us off this film for life. Variety say that Joseph Gordon Lewitt, the young actor who in the last 24 months has introduced himself with a bang to Indie audiences with his roles in BRICK and THE LOOKOUT, is in talks for a part in G.I. JOE. It's not mentioned which role he is up for, but it's likely the same part that Sam Rockwell was in talks for before a filming clash on AVATAR pushed him out of the running.

The bad news and it's so hideous you might want to take your laptop and hide behind the couch, or if you are reading this on a PC.. you might want to dim the brightness to leviate the shock. Marlon Wayans has signed the contract to play Ripcord, the leader of the Military Unit. Yeah, that's the star of such great work as LITTLE MAN, NORBIT and those SCARY MOVIE turkeys and just about the last person you would ever want in such a film like this. No I don't know much about G.I. JOE but the words 'leader' and 'Wayans' give me panic inducing chills.

It would seem they changed the character from white to black, which is perfectly fine... if you cast someone who has a least an ounce of acting talent. What is Stephen Sommers thinking? Apart from the casting of Sienna Miller, I thought the rest of his choices were pretty damn good but this one is just so out of left field, I don't know where to start. Filming begins next month in Los Angeles.
